Love and Jealousy

(This is NOT mushy and all about coochie-coos and Kisses)
It was for a creative-writing paper & I felt like sharing it.
Also, Its not like I do not get jealous. There are times when I'd want to cuddle somebody with a punch. But everyone has weaknesses , Isn't it?

“In jealousy there is more self-love than love.”
François, Duc de La Rochefoucauld, Maxims, 1665

Love. A four lettered word. It’s different for every entity, but  what is it really? Everybody knows it’s beautiful. The whole world seems to go round because of it, but is it what we think it is? It’s not just between a certain number of people. It’s not just magnetism, dependence and sexual inclination. It’s not just between family and friends and lovers. Love is a lifestyle. It’s a practice. It’s food for the spirit. It is sacred and divine. Love is to be patient and kind and have no negativity, no fear and no resentment attached. It never boasts and is never proud. It protects preserves and hopes. Love is faith, love is happiness. It gives you a reason to live and to believe in this world. It is one word that frees us of all the weight and pain of life. It gives us the strength to believe in our tomorrow and this world. It seems complex but it is very simple. It is the power of the universe .That is love.

“There are four questions of value in life:
What is Sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for?
& what is worth dying for?
The answer to each one is the same.
ONLY LOVE”

What does it take to love? To love another, one must love himself enough. There is no fear, no insecurity or no expectance in love. In today’s world, the definition of love has changed. Love is permanent but has become temporary. Love is unconditional but it’s become conditional. It has limits and boundaries and insecurities and fear and jealousy. Love seems to sustain on jealousy. Jealousy is considered healthy in love but in my opinion love is the antonym of jealousy.
What is jealousy? Jealousy is a direct synonym of fear. Jealousy is controlling someone you love. Jealousy displays lack of trust in one’s own love. In Shakespeare language it is a “green eyed monster”. Wherever jealousy prevails love takes a step back. Then why are people jealous when they are in love? There is a certain point where the fear of losing comes up. But if love is true there is no fear. The feeling of loving itself makes one happy irrespective of getting the love back. This kind of love is true and permanent. Jealousy shows dependency and not loving oneself. If I don’t love myself I will never believe that somebody else loves me and I will doubt it. This is the root of jealousy. When love becomes a practice of the soul one loves everyone equally and has faith in their love. It’s like having faith in god. When we’re going through a problem we are sad but we know deep down that god is there and it will be handled. That is the faith of love as well. When love exists nothing else is needed.

Love has no boundaries while jealousy is confined. Love is fearless and powerful while jealousy is weak. Love is selfless while jealousy is selfish and negative. Love is universal and jealousy is very personal. Love is extremely uplifting and jealousy is painful. Love awakens and enlightens the mind heart and soul while jealousy leaves us in deep turmoil. Love is devotion while jealousy is fear of rejection. Love trusts and hopes and waits and jealousy doubts and fails and regrets. Love looks through a telescope, while jealousy looks through a magnifying glass. How can two such words be interconnected? How can such a divine word be compared to a manmade fear?
“Where there is love, nothing but god prevails.”
